3D multimedia stage play “the three-body problem” after the Shanghai debut, not only has got rave reviews on the Web, post tickets also sold out more quickly. While the heat is still lasting, the play attracts fans again in Beijing and Guangzhou. On August 18-20, 2016, the play, directed by the author Liu Cixin shows on the Shenzhen Grand Theater.
If the world has three sun, and do not exercise regularly with each other, you can only survive in between of constant era and chaotic era, what kind of experience is that? Since it has won Hugo Awards –the most important awards of World Science Fiction in 2015, the novel “three-body problem” written by famous science fiction writer Liu Cixin quickly became the hot IP, and began to be adapted into television, films and theater.
“Three-body problem” stage play was adapted from the first Volume of novel “three-body problem”. It has costs 10 million to create a full sense of science fiction stage scenes. Audiences who have watched the “three-body problem” said that from the beginning moment of the play, the “vastness of the universe” created by ten million special effects make people immersed. Some audiences who have read the novel, begin to find that kind of fiction imagination and memories; those who have not read the novel cannot help holding their breath by its sense of mystery and science fiction plot tension.
Liu Cixin, the original author, after watching the premiere in Shanghai said: “The ‘three-body problem’play employed new media tools and experiences across traditional theater. Audience can watch innovative forms of combination of choreography and special effects in a huge field of surround sound, which is a more appropriate adaptation for science fiction theme. Through stage art – one of the most classical artistic forms, it brings a sense of technology and futurity, which brings a stronger sense than science fiction. This is my most profound feeling for the show. ”
And this movie is not just to impress the audience with special effects. As a work that combines history and futurity, “three-body problem” stage play has also reached a very high standard of artistic expression. For example, a mysterious triangular installation, can convert into an ancient pyramid, a red shore base symbolizing authority, and the First Emperor’s Throne hall supreme seat under different projections. Stage design employed highly refined symbolic language to express rich content and multiple changes.
Impressing scenes, including “Samsung Ling Day” and “Flying Nano” part, some audiences said that they feel “the body is cut”. The scene “Tribute to the worm,” filled with flying locusts, is choking and shocking, makes the audience experience deep cosmic philosophy.
The play also introduced the heated spectacle “three days Pente” flying into the auditorium, breaking the “fourth wall” between the stage and the audience. The audience broke out again and again under the field of screams. “Three-body problem” national tour stage in Beijing and Guangzhou station reached a perfect ending. It confirms what the visual effects director and general director Zhang Xiaofan said at the December press conference: to present “three-body problem” on the stage, we hope to start from scenarios, and to express “crude reality”and “ethereal imagination”. Cultivate a magical and fertile soil on the Chinese stage with real science fiction theme.
